It seems to be that time of year. We were hiking up the mushroom trail with Robin Browne and saw our first ever on that trail. Had to look up but there were a few well-laden bushes. Maybe there’s more sun on them now that some of the skinny Bishop Pines are dying back.
Previously we’ve found them on Mt Vision. The fall of 2014 was the first for us on the recommendation of Isaac Saarman, Jim’s son, who did some plumbing work for us. The biggest batch shown in the photo was harvested when we brought Michael and Georganne up there. She made some jam and picked out all the little stems. Way too much work IMHO. I just add them to tarts for a spark of color and tang.
